Mary + Colin | Louisville, KY Wedding
I’m really excited to share Mary and Colin’s wedding photos with you all! These two met in New York City watching football at a sports bar. They started dating and after some time exploring the city together, traveling, and trying all kinds of new food together (love this), Colin proposed on the rooftop of their Manhattan apartment with the skyline in view and a bottle of champagne in hand! They decided to get married in Mary’s hometown, Louisville, Kentucky.
If you can’t tell from what I’ve already told you, this is a really fun couple and their wedding reflected their personalities perfectly! The day began with Mary and her bridesmaids getting ready together at the Brown Hotel in downtown Louisville. After a few hugs and tears, Mary’s mom, Diann, helped her into her wedding gown. If you haven’t scrolled down to look at the photos yet, do it now. Mary is absolutely stunning! After she was ready, she did a “first look” with her bridesmaids and each of them took turns sharing what they love most about her. I have to say that I really love how doing a “first look” with bridesmaids is becoming more common, and this one was so special! A few things I overheard from the moment (that I just have to share) are how bright, kind, and funny Mary is. If a ray of sunshine could be a person, it would be her. What an amazing group of sweet friends!
Next, Mary saw her dad for the first time in her wedding gown. His reaction was absolutely priceless. Mary is his only daughter and it was obvious throughout the day just how close they are. Her next stop before heading to the church, was a “first look” with Colin on the rooftop of the hotel. He was completely blown away and couldn’t stop smiling! I could tell at this moment, they were finally feeling how real it was all becoming. After seeing each other for the first time, it was so obvious that they were ready to run down that aisle and make it official!
I mentioned that they got married at a church, but that really doesn’t do it justice. The wedding ceremony was held at Cathedral of the Assumption in Louisville and it was breathtaking. Colin’s face when he saw Mary’s dad walking her down the aisle was so sweet and full of love (just scroll down and look at the photo)! When a dad gives his daughter away at the end of the aisle is always one of the most touching moments for me. Then Mary & Colin said their vows and the newly married couple had their first kiss. Everyone cheered and the bridesmaids just about had a dance party at the front of the church!
The reception, also held at the Brown Hotel, started with some hilarious and heartfelt speeches. The band, Push the Limit, got the party started and everyone was showing off their dance moves. This was such a fun group and the night was full of so much laughter!
As you may or may not have noticed by now, the end of each story is when I share some sweet things that the couple shares with me about each other. When asked what each loves most about the other, Mary said, “I love his big, big heart, his loving patience, and how he loves me unconditionally (even when I’m way too energetic and being a weird, crazy handful at times!” Colin said, “I love her heart. Not only does Mary love me fiercely and completely, but she also has a compassion for others and a sweet spirit that I find tremendously endearing.” When asked what they want to remember most about this season of their lives 20 years from now, they said, “We want to remember the tender moments and the true happiness felt during our engagement and later during our wedding.”
