Evan + Asher | Evansville Winter Wedding

Evan and Asher’s story began in high school, but these two didn’t really meet or start dating until much later. After high school, Evan worked as a barista for a summer at a coffee shop Asher occasionally hung out at. Evan remembers that they never spoke when he came in, but that she thought he was super cute. When summer was over, Evan went off to college and Asher toured the country with his band. Eventually, when she moved back to Evansville after graduating in 2014, Asher reached out to her and they finally went on their first date. Asher eventually proposed on trip they took with their group of friends to New Orleans (Evan’s favorite place in the world). He insisted on visiting Jackson Square to “take a photo” and ended up getting down on one knee.

After so many years, these two are finally together and I can’t wait to tell you about their wedding! On the big day, Evan and her girls got ready at an adorable Airbnb where Evan’s mom helped her into her dress and put on her finishing touches. Evan then did a first look with her dad. She’s an only child and is very close with her parents, so these moments they shared were so special. Evan had a patch sewn onto her his tie that read: “Dad, I loved you first. I love you still. I always have, and always will. Thank you for walking by my side today and always. Forever your little girl. Love, Evan. 12.14.19.” I thought this was such a sweet and unique way to show love for her dad.

In the meantime, Asher, his boys, and the best dog, Nero, got ready at the couple’s home. Nero actually had his own tux and gave all the groomsmen a run for their money with his good looks. You all know how much I love when dogs are included in wedding festivities! As the guys were getting ready, Asher accidentally put on the wrong jacket which was huge on him. Apparently, everyone noticed but didn’t say anything until another groomsmen was trying to squeeze into Asher’s actual jacket. It was definitely a funny moment!

The wedding itself took place at the Old Post Office in Evansville, Indiana. Both of Evan’s parents walked her down the aisle. This was the first time Asher saw Evan that day and his face was completely priceless. I have to say that that was my favorite moment of the day. Following the sweet ceremony, we ventured into Downtown Evansville to take photos. Then, the reception began (which also took place at the Old Post Office). Every member of the wedding party gave hilarious and heartfelt speeches about the couple. It was so obvious that these two are so completely loved by those around them. I also have to say that I witnessed some of the best dance moves I’ve ever seen, not to mention head banging! The entire evening was so fun and full of love.

Finally, for the last time in 2019, I’ll share the “sweet stuff” that I always ask the couples I photograph. When I asked Evan what she loved most about her future husband, she said, “I love his creativity and sense of humor the most. He’s incredibly hard-working and ambitious. I’ve never met someone so focused on achieving their dreams. He brings me out of my shell and balances out my intensity and seriousness with lightheartedness. I also love how much my family loves him.” When asked the same question about his future wife, Asher said, “I love how loving and compassionate she is with those she’s close to. She is incredibly intelligent in so many ways. She compensates all of my shortcomings with her strengths. We are so opposite in so many ways but at the same time so alike. She fits into my family perfectly.”

When asked what they want to remember about this season of their lives 20 years from now, they said, “We’d like to remember how significant this time period was. We bought a house and got engaged within the same month. We’d also like to remember how much fun our loved ones had at our wedding.”

This wedding was the best wrap for 2019. It’s been an amazing year photographing beautiful couples and I can’t wait to see what’s in store for 2020.
